Hi! I’m Jacob — a native Dutch speaker, Microsoft-certified IT Manager, and passionate educator.
I help you learn Dutch in a relaxed, practical way, with real-life conversation and smart tools like AI to boost your progress. With 10+ years in tech and 4+ years leading IT teams, I also coach students in digital skills, product thinking, and modern work life. I use AI daily and love showing others how to use it to learn smarter — including for languages. Outside of work, I travel, play guitar, and learn Hindi and Chinese. I know the challenges of learning a new language — and how to make it fun, personal, and effective.
Because my of my studies in NLP and a bachelor in Social Work I have learned very well to listen to people, let them set attainable goals for themselves and make a plan to reach those. I accept that there;s multiple learning styles and only use those which are effective to people. I'm very patient, kind, but can also be strict when necessary. Because sometimes you just need a little nudge in the right direction. I will use lots of humor in my classes, am accustomed to working with children as well, and am able to motivate you to continue even when things look tough.
I will offer different kinds of classes. I can help you learn vocabulary, give tools to help learn vocabulary, as well and make small stories to make sure you remember this vocabulary. This has always worked will for me, since I'm a visual learning. Learning by repetition is key in this.

Jacob was incredibly helpful in breaking down the pronunciation of words, which made a real difference in how confident I felt speaking out loud. The structure of our lessons felt very systematic, like building blocks layering on top of each other. We started with the fundamentals first: basic greetings, the alphabet, and numbers.
I had assumed grammar would be the starting point, but this approach turned out to be surprisingly effective. It made the basics stick before adding complexity. I'm really looking forward to the next lesson!
