Hello, my name is Hans Simons. I'm from the Netherlands and have lived in many countries such as the US, the UK, Colombia, Italy and Spain. I love reading, a good movie, cooking, thus good food. As you can see, I have travelled the world, which has given me a lot to talk about.
Mijn naam is Hans, en ik ben een verpleegkundige uit Nederland. Heb veel gereisd en heb dus behoorlijk wat ervaring en taal opgedaan gedurende al deze jaren. Mijn grootste hobby's (naast reizen) zijn lezen, een goede film en goed eten (kook dus zelf.)

After 4 years teaching here at iTalki, it is, time to update my profile a bit. Here at iTalki I have specialized in teaching Dutch to all level of students: from A0 to C1, inburgering, and medical Dutch for healthcare professionals. Besides Dutch, I also prepare students in English so they can go to Universities in Europe and the US.

My lessons are based on what you want and need. We make a plan together, that way you know what is going to happen and when it is going to happen. Most is conversation based with grammar and vocabulary explanations. In the exam preparation classes I'll not only show you the correct English use of things but also how to do the exam.
De Nederlandse taal wordt gegeven met de methode Zichtbaar Nederlands. We gaan eerst leren waarom zinnen op een bepaalde manier in elkaar gezet moeten worden, wat voor structuur we gebruiken en dan beetje bij beetje woordenschat uitbreiden met lezen, schrijven en praten. Hans is the absolute best tutor for the inburgering exam and helps not only with prepping for the test itself but also identifying areas of focus tailored to your needs, test taking tips and tricks tailored to your test taking style (especially helpful for someone like me with test anxiety and ADHD), and he helps keep you focused and with the eye on the prize building confidence along the way to you are prepared and well rehearsed going into the test. I also referred my sister in law to Hans and she had a great experience and had exemplary test results. My test results are also a testament to Hans' guidance. Will definitely keep studying with him beyond the exam to gain further fluency in Dutch! Thanks Hans!
