Hello, everyone! Thank you for visiting my profile!😊 Nice to meet you! My name is Haruka. はじめまして、はるかです！ I’m a native Japanese speaker from Tokyo, currently living in the U.S. I love talking with people from different countries and learning new perspectives through conversation. I believe language learning becomes much more enjoyable when you can “actually use it” with real people. That’s why I became a Japanese tutor on italki. I have a teaching license and majored in Education at university. I also completed practical training at both an elementary school and a junior high school, where I learned how to explain things clearly and support learners with patience. 🌿 My lessons are mainly conversation-based. We can talk about any topic you like, your daily life, hobbies, culture, travel, or anything you’re interested in. I will adjust my speaking speed and vocabulary to your level, so beginners are always welcome. If you want, I can also use textbooks or help you prepare for specific goals (travel, daily conversation, interviews, etc.). Just let me know in advance! My goal is to create a relaxed, friendly space where you can feel safe speaking Japanese—even if you make mistakes. Don’t worry about being perfect. Let’s enjoy speaking Japanese together!😊 I’m really looking forward to meeting you and becoming your “tomodachi.”

1st session. Haruka-san has good energy. She's able to keep the conversation going by asking a lot of questions. I had to leave our session early and she was kind of enough to spend extra time to send me some notes and feedback about the new words and corrections. Thanks for the conversation!

Haruka-san only had a few weeks to help me prepare for my upcoming trip to Japan, and she really made the most of them! I now feel comfortable using my Japanese skills to navigate common situations tourists find themselves in. I highly recommend her to anyone hoping to learn or brush up on their Japanese, especially if it's for a trip to Japan.
