Hoi! I’m Rick, a Dutch teacher with a twist—I blend language learning with real-world flair. Born in Rotterdam and now soaking up the sun in Tenerife, I’ve lived everywhere from Mexico to Paraguay as a digital nomad. My lessons? They’re as vibrant as my journey!
With a background in teaching, coaching, and even the Dutch film industry, I help students *speak* Dutch confidently from Day 1. Whether you’re mastering small talk or navigating travel phrases, my global experiences make learning practical and fun. Let’s turn your goals into conversations—gezellig!
My lessons focus mainly on CONVERSATION practice. Practical things you can use right away in a day-to-day setting. And the topics of conversation are around topics that are important or interesting to you. Building your confidence in speaking the language and growing your vocabulary from Day 1! From small talk, how your day or week has been, family and friends, hobbies and personal interests to practical exercises like asking for directions, etc. All of this happens in a comfortable and non-forced setting. My classes are both fun and educational!
My lessons are very personalized. I always start with getting to know you better. Especially during the trial lesson.
My classes are very personalised and tailored to your wishes and needs. With beginners, I start with the basics: making correct sentences, pronunciation and listening exercises. With intermediates, I add practicing simple and basic conversation skills.

Vandaag hebben we gepraat over de onderwerp zelfbewustzijn. Heel interssant. Ik vind mijn spreken heeft verbeteren. Dit is zeker voor mij een moeilijk topic om te uitleggen maar ik heb het goed gedaan, denk ik :-)

I always enjoy my lessons with Rick. He is really friendly and creates a fun and supportive learning environment. It’s great to be able to learn Dutch while discussing so many varied and interesting topics! Even though I am being introduced to new vocabulary and learning Dutch grammar, the process is really organic and enjoyable. I also really appreciate all of the little tips Rick provides regarding nuances of the Dutch language, as well as insights into Dutch culture and life in the Netherlands. An added benefit is that because of his fluency in English, Rick is able to really help me nail down accurate translations. If you’re looking for a tutor to help you improve your Dutch language skills I HIGHLY recommend Rick!
