Hey there! My name is Femke, nice to meet you :) Born and raised in the area of Amsterdam and having moved around the Netherlands, I’ve experienced life in the active big cities of the country, as well as it’s calm, tiny villages. Three years ago I took a leap and moved to Portugal, because I absolutely fell in love with the country. Now, I’m more excited than ever to share my passion for teaching. I offer a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQI+ / queer and neurodivergent students 🌈 Whether you want to learn Dutch because you're moving to the Netherlands, or just for fun, I’d love to support you on your Dutch-learning journey! Let's explore it together! 🌷

Languages have always fascinated me! Besides Dutch, I am fluent in English, speak Portuguese B2 level, and speak a little Spanish. Since I’ve gone through the language-learning journey myself, I know what works (and what doesn’t). I love helping people gain confidence in speaking Dutch, and forming a connection with my students. I believe learning should be fun, meaningful, and adapted to each student’s needs. Everyone learns differently, so I personalize my lessons to make sure they fit your learning style. My goal is to create a relaxed and enjoyable learning environment where you can learn at your own pace and gradually improve with confidence :)

My lessons are designed to be interactive and engaging. We can focus on conversation, reading, listening, music, or a mix—whatever suits you best! If you already know what works for you, great! If not, let's figure it out together. I also love incorporating topics that interest you, so learning Dutch feels natural and enjoyable. Femke is so dedicated and always comes prepared with slides for every class. What I love about her is how she asks questions that really make you think, like the last class that we talked about houses and what makes a place feel like home. She's super supportive and makes you feel comfortable to just be yourself and practice Dutch. You can tell she genuinely loves teaching and cares about you. I'd definitely recommend giving her classes a try. You'll see what I mean about her passion!

Femke is an excellent Dutch teacher! She uses personalized materials and explains always in a clear, friendly way. Her classes are fun and engaging, and I always feel more confident after each lesson. I've had lots of teachers for other languages, but Femke was by far the best. I'm improving my dutch a lot, highly reccommend her!
