I am an accredited teacher of English as a second language. My wish is to recognize and empower global citizens, who wish to express themselves in English. A natural teacher, my lessons are enjoyable to people of diverse backgrounds. I believe that good humour is always important. Specializing in job interview preparation, I bring a unique blend of experience as a qualified mediator, published writer, and former CBC Radio broadcaster. With a master’s in fine arts and years as a performing musician, I understand how to help you shine under pressure and express yourself clearly. If you want to improve your English for professional success or deepen your appreciation, I’m here to guide you. I am an accredited teacher of English as a second language. My wish is to recognize and empower newcomers to Canada, as well as global citizens, who wish to express themselves in English. A natural teacher, I am well-liked by students of diverse backgrounds. I was a popular coach and mentor to many aspiring mediators. I believe that a lesson should meet the student at a place where he or she is comfortable, and then should engage with material chosen to stimulate curiosity and build capacity, according to the student's needs and capabilities. My style features an emphasis on my listening skills and my empathy, leading to a shared process bringing the student to a new place of understanding and practical skill. He is a great teacher. He messaged me even before the trial lesson to know more about my goals, so we had a very productive mock interview. He provided guidance on how to make good points. He asked great questions and gave me tips/corrections/follow ups especially for vague answers :) Thank you

Just from the trial lesson, I could already tell that John is really experienced in teaching and knows how to communicate well with non-native speakers. John is also really culturally aware, which helps a lot. When it comes to interview prep, John guides you to think in a strategic and logical way and points out the most important areas to work on. There was also a super clear and helpful demonstration of how to actually do it.
