    Hello everyone, I am preparing BEC (Cambridge Business English Certificate) examination. I am now practicing writing. I hope someone can help to correct my writing. The writing is as attached picture: This report aims to show the performance in profits of three factories, Bristol, Leeds, London, in last year, 2003, and to describe the scale of each of them. Bristol, the largest factory which hired 610 employees and had made a dramatic profit of 12 million pounds in first quarter. But it went down steadily and reached a low at 9 million pounds in last quarter. Leeds, the second largest factory who had a workforce of 350 stuff. It’s profits didn’t vary much and remained at most of the time at 8 million pounds. However it went slightly down to 7,6 million in third quarter. London factory is the smallest one, only employed 150 stuff. It has a very stable profits as well which stood at 3.5 million pounds but peaked at 4 million pounds at the second quarter.

    I want to know how native English speakers spell the words? When I come up with some 'big words', they are hard to be spelled out. As a second-language speaker in English, I have a myth that I should obtain the ability to spell the words by letters. For example, 'doctrine' is 'd-o-c-t-r-i-n-e', or 'jeopardize' is 'j-e-o-p-a-r-d-i-z-e'. But I find it so hard to practice and very low-efficient. So I wonder if native speakers are taught to remember the long words in different way, like 'doctrine' is 'doc-trine' and 'jeopardize' is 'jeo-par'dize'. Because in China, teachers normally don't teach that way, students are requested to write many time of the words to remember them. But this method won't suit the high-level students, because we want to obtain a larger amount of new words through reading. Also I want to know how you can remember so many long words since there are so many of them, do you read them in articles or news or movies?

    Is it "as to“ similar to "about? I am doing reading study. I saw a sentence "Thousands of articles are written in the newspapers giving advice of all types as to what people should be doing". Here is it "as to" same as "about"? Normally I use "about" everywhere.

    why it says "there are many more people"? I am doing reading study now. But I don't understand why it says "there are many more people". I just know "many people" or "much more people". Can anyone help me? Thank you.

    What good books you introduce? Hi, people. I recently want to start to read native English books, like novels or story books. Because I never try to put effort on it, my reading skills never improve. Can you introduce me some good books that I can read and learn? I hope that books won't be too difficult nor too simple, maybe junior-high level, I guess. Thank you in advance.
