I don’t know why I still don’t understand when I can use Presen/Past continuous, even if I know the rules of using I still can’t use it correctly in my speech.. I think it is because I don’t understand it properly.
Recently I realized that finally I understood how to use “I have been V+ing” this tense and it makes me happy 😊 maybe sometimes I can make mistakes with this tense but I know it and the exact word is I “feel” it.
But I am still struggling with Continuous tense( maybe in this case I use it correctly 😅)
Can you give me some advice?

"Through further communication, she found that the man had a wide knowledge of arts."
Is this sentence correct and natural?
a. I feel "Through further communication" is too formal. How about I change it to "Through further communication?
b. AI says "found" isn't the right word here. "Discovered" or "realized" would be the right word. But I think "found" is correct here. Am I right?
c. Is "arts" here clear enough? Should I use "the arts" instead?
Thanks!

This is a very general question as the time needed may vary by a language’s complexity and similarity to one’s mother tongue, among other factors.
Further discussion welcome in the comments.
In your opinion how many hours of output -conversation classes or speaking with friends/etc…- each week are necessary to maintain the ability to speak a language at a certain level?

A and B are talking on the phone. Then:
A: I'm sorry but I have to get back to the office. I've got so much to work.
B: Okay. Don't get stuck there. Burning the five p.m. candle on a Friday.
What does "Burning the five p.m. candle" mean here? Does it mean you'd better leave the office at the crack of 5?
