こんにちは！今日は8月26日月曜日です。「5分でわかる日本語」ポッドキャストへようこそ。私は日本語の先生、みわです。今日は、日本の都道府県（とどうふけん）についてお話しします。日本には47の都道府県があって、「都（と）」「道（どう）」「府（ふ）」「県（けん）」の4つの種類に分かれています。皆さんは、これらについて知っていますか？また、昔東京などは、今とは違う名前で呼ばれていたことを知っていますか？今日はその点について詳しくお話しします。

まず、日本の47都道府県について説明します。「都」は、日本の首都である東京に使われています。東京都です。まず、東京都が1つあります。

次の「道」は、北海道のことです。東京都の場合、東京と言うこともできますが、北海道の場合は「北海」だけで言うことはありません。北海道は1つです。

次に「府」は、大阪府（おおさかふ）と京都府（きょうとふ）の２つです。昔、日本の政治や文化の中心でした。今でも重要な地域です。

そして、残りの43の地域はすべて「県（けん）」が使われます。たとえば、福岡県（ふくおかけん）や愛知県（あいちけん）などです。これで、全部足すと47。47の都道府県があります。都道府県という言葉はニュースにもよく出てくるので、覚えておきましょう。

実は、これらの地域は、昔違う名前で呼ばれていました。旧国名（きゅうこくめい）です。旧国名についてお話ししましょう。

現在の東京都は、昔「江戸（えど）」と呼ばれていました。

北海道は、昔「蝦夷（えぞ）」と呼ばれていました。

続いて、大阪府と京都府についてです。大阪は昔摂津（せっつ）、河内（かわち）、和泉（いずみ）、京都は山城（やましろ）、丹波（たんば）、丹後（たんご）と呼ばれていました。なぜ、それぞれ名前が3つあるのでしょうか。

実は、昔の地域と今の地域では、違う形で分けられていて、それぞれの地域に名前がありました。昔は、現在の都道府県とは違う地図でした。インターネットで「旧国名（きゅうこくめい）」と調べると、昔の地図が見られます。見てみると、とてもおもしろいですよ。

これで、日本の都道府県と旧国名についてお伝えしました。皆さんも日本を旅行するときに、現在の名前だけでなく、昔の名前や歴史にも目を向けてみると、もっと楽しくなるかもしれません。

ここで、皆さんに問題です。日本には全部でいくつの「府」がありますか？

もう一度、問題を言います。日本には全部でいくつの「府」がありますか？大阪府と京都府のことを思い出してください。答えは「2.2つ」です。
