This podcast is aimed at people who have not taken the IELTS or who took it once without preparing and now want to prepare for a second try.
I'll describe how the test is organized, what the different types of questions are,

はい、こんにちは洋平先生です。
今日はちょっと特別な動詞の「分かりません」と「知りません」の話をしたいと思います。で、皆さんN3とN2 のレベルですから、もう知っていると思うんですけども「分かります」は「分かっています」はあまり使わないんですね。で、「知ります」は これはあまり使わないんですね、これは「知っています」の方がよく使われています。まあ、皆さん知っていますね。
「分かります」の使い方は、
・あの人が誰かわかります。
・ミラーさんは、日本語が少しわかります。

というような使い方をしますで、「知っています」は、 
・私はそのことを知っています。
・彼もそのことを知っています。

という使い方をします。
で、否定形（ひていけい negative form）ですが、「分かりません」「知りません」ですね。これはシンプルです。「分かっていません」「知っていません」も文法的（ぶんぽうてき）にオッケーですが、あまり使いません。使う時もありますよ。でもあまり使いません。で、今日は「分かっています」のことをちょっと話したいんですね、

「分かっています」。これは、ちょっと失礼というか、 ちょっと怒）おこ）った時に使うんですね。
えっと、例えば、何か後回（あとまわ）しにしたことや、” 後回し”はわかりますか。”後回し”、えー、put off some tasks のことですね。はい、後回しにしたことや、もうわかっていることを強く言われて、少し怒った時に言うことが多いんですよ。 
例えばですね、お母さんに
母「食べた後、皿をちゃんと片づけてよ！」
私「分かっているよ！今食べて、お今食べ終わったばかりで休んでいるんだよ」

という時に使うんですね。
はい、どうでしょうか、分かりますか。 でも「分かっています」ですが、怒っていない時も時々使います。 
えー、どういうこと、どういう時に使うかというと、えー、第3者の情報（じょうほう）を言うとき、第三者the therd man　ですね。えー、ちょっとむずかしく言いましたが、ま、”他の人”ということですね。他の人のことを言う時に使います。例えば、 
A：彼はこの事を分かっていますか。
B：分かっています。

というように使えます で、ちょっと自信がない時は
B：分かっていると思います。

などと言いますね、はいでも、あの第三者の時でも。技術（ぎじゅつ）skillの話をする時は「わかります」で話してくださいね。 
A：彼は日本語が分かりますか。
B：分かります。
B：分かると思います。

と言ってください、 ここで「分かっていると思います」というと、ちょっと変なんですね、はい、どうでしょうか。え、最後にちょっとだけ「知ります」の話もしますね。知ります、私あんまりこの動詞（どうし・verb）は使わないですね。 
どういう時に使うかというと、例えば、えーこれはfuture (tense)ですね。 
・彼はこの後、この会社のきびしさを知ることになる

というような使い方ですね。これ、日常（にちじょう）の言葉じゃなくて、テレビや小説（しょうせつ）などで使われる言葉ですね。うん、まあ、 日常というか、友達にこれを言ってもおかしくはないですよ。はい、こういうような使い方をしますfuture tenseですね。

Episode 6: Tooth Fairy Traditions from Around the World

If you don't already lift weights, it may be time to start. According to researchers from Japan, just 30 to 60 minutes of muscle-strengthening exercise a week is enough to lower a person's risk of early death.

Muscle-strengthening exercise can include activities like push-ups, yoga and walking up steps, among others.

The research was based on 16 previously published studies that had between 4,000 and 480,000 adult participants.

The studies were done in the US, England, Scotland, Australia and Japan. The participants had no serious health issues, and they were monitored for at least two years.

The results, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, showed that those who did between 30 and 60 minutes of strength or weight training a week had a 10% to 20% lower risk of early death from all causes.

This type of exercise was also found to lower the risks of heart disease and cancer by about the same amount.

Participants who reported doing a combination of muscle training and aerobic activity were found to have a 40% lower risk of death from all causes, 46% lower risk of heart disease, and 28% lower risk of death from cancer.

However, after 130 to 140 minutes of muscle training, the positive health effects decreased, and were only seen in issues related to diabetes.

Speaking with CNN, University of Minnesota professor William Roberts, who was not part of the study, said the results are good for people who want to improve their health but don't have much time for exercise.
