Just sitting quietly or in the middle of the night, the past suddenly hits my mind, not violent, just think about it lightly, and then it's over. It was rainy today. Last night, a video about the origin of Chinese calligraphy characters caught my eye. It was all about glyphs. So today, after finishing my homework, I delved into the topic on the internet and discovered some shocking, dark knowledge about the Chinese glyphs on tortoise shells from thousands of years ago. These ancient characters, which are the ancestors of today’s Chinese characters, are mostly bloody and even terrifying. For example, the character that means “people” today actually developed from a drawing of a knife stabbing an eye. This suggests how people, or slaves, were made to be obedient. They literally gouged out people’s eyeballs to subdue them. Some other characters depict the bloody nature of human sacrifices, showing how people were cut in half. Ancient China was horrific, and all of this was well recorded in our language. I wonder how our ancestors survived through such a dark period. It’s creepy yet fascinating, and I couldn’t stop learning more.

I never sort waste at home. The reason is very simple, because we sort them outside . The only thing I need to do is to take all the waste to the trash bins outside of my apartment and sort them there. We usually have four kinds of trash bins near our apartments. There are big containers in different colors for different waste. Green ones are for food waste,blue ones are for recyclable things, red ones are for hazardous waste, gray ones are for residual waste which can't classified into above three categories. But for some people, it's not easy to distinguish these bins. They are usually in a hurry, and put their trash into the wrong trash bins. In that case, the governments need to hire more workers to sort them before taking then away. So, children are taught to sort waste at a very little age. Adults are also taught to try their best to sort their waste well. Overall, sorting waste is a great thing for environment. Everyone should learn how to sort waste and do it best.
