As someone who speaks both Chinese and English fluently, I can assume you, Chinese as a language is NOWHERE close compared to English in terms of the overall influence. It’s not even as influential as any one of the following languages such as Spanish, French, Portuguese, or Arabic. I think you are better off learning Japanese or Korean than learning Chinese. Seriously.

A lot has changed geopolitically since the 2014 Forbes prediction, and Chinese is rapidly becoming the favorite. I’d toss even Hindu into this mix. Hope we all reach 2050s safe and sound, though.
