When the delight ripples in her simple, lovely face, there is a sound echoing in my mind, as if I <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">has come</s> have gone back in time and I <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">was</s> am young, playing, splashing, and fishing with those fellows, laughing and joking, as the wind whistles through the willows next to the river, taking our laughter far and far away.

If MT were the solution to all translation, interpretation, and localization issues, high-level employers like the UN and WHO would be using it already instead of employing translators.

Translation students who believe their skills and training are unnecessary will end up working for clients who agree with them. The clients will pay poorly and treat the translators poorly, as if they are doing a great favor, and the translators' belief will be reinforced.

Translation students who understand why and how their skills and training are necessary will look for jobs with employers who also understand this, like the UN, which hires trained, skilled translators.

I would say the answer to your questions depends on (1) the quality of translators and (2) what kind of book. Since all translators in your thought experiment are equally (highly) qualified, I'll focus on (2).

If the book is a textbook or technical manual, I would expect Book One and Book Hundred to be very similar. (Let's assume all necessary technical vocabulary exists in all target languages, so the translators don't need to struggle with introducing new technical concepts to their culture.) Book Hundred should be recognizable as Book One.

If the book is poetry or literature, I would expect Book Hundred to be very different from Book One, not recognizable as Book One other than basic essence. (And honestly, many stories have the same "essence.") A few translation norms--trends in the translation choices made by translators no matter language or culture--cause this. These include (1) trying to clarify information, so target texts are usually a bit longer than source texts and (2) translating non-standard language (slang, swearing) as standard language. Translators also translate according to their own culture's social norms, so they will often omit material considered inappropriate or taboo in their own culture: sex, violence, whatever the culture doesn't allow. (If they don't do it, the publisher may insist on it.)

I started an MA in Translation program at the beginning of this year. In the program, we read several papers by Itamar Even-Zohar and Zohar Shavit, two theorists who studied and noted the translation norms that I've mentioned.

In my community, people care about what they see in their dreams. They rush to interpret <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">it</s> a dream when they wake up happy but try to forget it if it is a nightmare or bad one.

It is well<s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">- </s>known that when you see a snake or a scorpion in a dream, they mean you have enemies round you.

When you <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">see</s> dream that you are eating something delicious, you will gain money, and when you <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">see yourself</s> dream you are crying, you will be happy and other interpretations, which are based on old opinions of dream interpreters.

The dream that always <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">accompany</s> returns to me is that I walk bare-footed outside my home. When I tried to get the meaning of that <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">usual</s> recurring dream, I found different interpretations. The one that convinced me was that it means you face life’s difficulties.

I don’t pay much attention to dreams as we see a lot of stuff on the internet and that creates various impressions in our <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">inners</s> subconscious mind. Those impressions are being interpreted as dreams.

Have you ever gone fishing without a rod? To reply to this question, I bet you will think of a net. When this idea comes to me, I don't think of a net. Instead, <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">there's</s> a little, narrow-necked bottle glitters in my mind.

When I was young, I lived in a small village, where a small river flowed<s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);"> by still</s>. It was my paradise, <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">so</s> as it was to my fellow<s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">s</s> playmates.

As a child, I didn't have pocket money to <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">buy</s> spend on a rod and a few fishhooks. But we, a crowd of <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">about</s> ten-year-old kids, never bothered to use <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">a</s> fishing rods to catch fish. It didn't take any time to learn how to fish with a bottle. First, you just needed to get a discarded or unused plastic or glass bottle with a narrow neck. It was easy to find one in your kitchen. A sauce container or a sugar jar was good enough as long as it was transparent. Remove all labels and clean it up to make sure it smelt of nothing so that fish wouldn't notice it was a trap.

How big it was depended on how big the fish you expected to catch were. To a kid, <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">he paid no attention to what</s> the kind and size of the fish he could get didn't matter; the only thing he cared about was <s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);">to</s> playing together with those fellows<s style="color: rgb(230, 0, 0);"> together</s>, laughing and splashing by the river.

Because the writing is high level, I edited this as if it were written by a native speaker. Therefore, many of the changes are stylistic. (Your grammar and vocabulary were correct but I tried to improve style.) For example:

buy --> spend on

"Buy" is not wrong. But "buy" emphasizes the thing you buy; "spend on" emphasizes the amount of money or lack of money. This is a stylistic change only.

Some of the changes are necessary. For example:

our kids --> us kids

In the essay, you write about you and your friends. "Our kids" refers to "the sons and daughters of me and my friends." I don't think that's what you want here. I think because 我们 can mean "we," "us," and "our" in Chinese depending on the context, it may cause confusion in English. In the phrase "...for us kids," the word "kids" is optional and emphasizes/clarifies "us." "Us" is an object pronoun and is the object of the preposition "for" (for whom? for them? for me?) In the phrase "for our kids," nothing is optional. "Our" is a possessive pronoun that shows possession of "kids" (whose kids? his kids? your kids?) You could just write "...for us" to be technically correct but I think "us kids" matches the tone and style.
