### **Article Title: Master the Deep Sound of Arabic: The Letter 'Ayn (ع)** **Introduction** Is the letter **'Ayn (ع)** the hardest sound you’ve encountered in Arabic? You are not alone! Many students confuse it with the simple "A" sound or a Glottal Stop (Hamza). Based on the anatomy of the throat, here is a simple guide to finding this "deep" sound in 3 easy steps. ### **1. Find the "Spot" (The Middle Throat)** Unlike English sounds that come from the mouth or lips, the **'Ayn** lives deep in the throat. * **Look at the diagram:** The sound comes from the **"Wasat Al-Halq"** (Middle Throat). * **The Touch Test:** Put your finger gently on your Adam’s apple (middle of your neck). This is exactly where the magic happens. ### **2. The Secret Move: Squeeze, Don’t Block!** The scientific trick to this sound involves the **Epiglottis** (the flap in your throat). * To make the sound, you need to pull the muscles of your throat **backwards**. * Think of it as creating a **"Partial Squeeze"**. You are narrowing the passage of air, but you are NOT closing it completely. ### **3. Recently, I’ve watched the TV series The Game of Thrones. This is the only thing I can think of at the moment since I have hardly ever saw any entertainment for a while. I am a part-time language learner and full-time history expert with nothing all but an enthusiasm for knowledge of events passed by. Following loads of highly recommendation on social media, I gave it a go then and found out it really worth watching. Speaking of how to record history, sort of a heritage in my country, the employees who officially wrote the history books usually make it simple and brief, that makes the history books just tell people when and where some things happened and who did those things, that’s all. I must say it is amazing to combine the real historical events into a show. And the most interesting part is telling stories of many individuals, who seem not so famous but took part in the game more or less. Thanks to the production team of the show, I can feel what a certain role feel in some situations and realize what they react. Their stories have been no longer made of words and sentences in a book, instead, they can be seen and pictured. At the end of this piece of writing, I want to put down my thought, we every single person are building the history, we can document our own experiences if we like to, we come to this world, we left trails.
