Trasferirsi in Sicilia
Elena vive a Ferrara vicino a Bologna, con il marito Igor e la figlia Luisa.
Elena è nata a San Pietroburgo in Russia e poi ha lavorato a Londra come traduttrice dal russo all’inglese. Ma dopo alcuni anni si è accorta che voleva vivere in Italia. Da bambina vedeva sempre molti film italiani e l’Italia è entrata subito nel suo cuore. Appena lei è arrivata in Italia si è trasferita a Modena, dove ha trovato lavoro come insegnante di russo in una scuola privata e dove ha conosciuto Igor. Igor è nato a Pachino, un piccolo paese della Sicilia e a venti anni si è trasferito a Reggio Emilia, per frequentare un corso da pasticcere. Adesso lavora come pasticcere presso una famosa pasticceria del centro di Ferrara e tutti lo conoscono perché prepara dolci buonissimi. Elena e Igor ormai vivono a Ferrara da circa dieci anni; i primi tempi uscivano insieme quasi ogni sera per andare a mangiare fuori con gli amici o per vedere qualche concerto, ma da quando è nata Luisa, hanno molto meno tempo. Tutti e due amano molto l’Italia ma il clima di Ferrara per loro è troppo freddo e umido. Inoltre tutti e due amano molto il mare che però non c’è a Ferrara. Allora visto che Igor guadagna molto bene ed è un pasticcere molto richiesto, stanno pensando di trasferirsi nel sud Italia, a Catania e di aprire una pasticceria. Catania per loro è il posto ideale per vivere perché c’è spesso il sole, il cibo è squisito, le persone sono accoglienti e poi…è sul mare!
“Quando vivi in un posto dove c’è il mare non ti senti mai triste!” Ha detto un giorno Luisa, loro figlia, e loro hanno sorriso. 
Elena vuole cambiare città entro la fine del 2023 e per farlo devono dare un preavviso al proprietario della casa che affittano di sei mesi. 
Per la fine dell’anno, quando tutta la famiglia si riunisce per la cena del veglione, esprimono tutti insieme il desiderio di cambiare città e festeggiano allegramente il loro progetto per il futuro.

Hi and welcome back to Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O'Brien.

📖 Chapter 14: The Marketplace

Before I begin reading, here’s a quick summary of the chapter:

Mrs. Frisby is shocked to learn that her late husband, Jonathan, was part of the rats’ secret past. Nicodemus explains that Jonathan had a good reason for keeping the truth from her, but he never had the chance to share it before he passed. As they talk, Nicodemus suggests moving to a quieter location so he can tell her the full story of the rats’ origins.
He leads Mrs. Frisby to his office, a comfortable and well-furnished space, where she notices a radio playing music. This sparks a memory of something Jonathan once mentioned, and she is fascinated by the sound. Nicodemus then begins to recount the history of the rats, starting at a marketplace near a big city where he and many other rats once lived.
The marketplace provided plenty of food, making life easy for the rats. Nicodemus and his friends, including his intelligent companion Jenner, often explored the area, gathering food and playing. One evening, while searching for food, Nicodemus and the other rats were suddenly caught in a trap. Bright lights flashed, and men in white uniforms appeared, capturing many of them with nets. Nicodemus himself was ensnared, signaling the beginning of a life-changing event for the captured rats.
