Learning Turkish? It's a journey full of unique and fascinating moments! Here are a few things that make the language so interesting. The Beauty of Agglutination Turkish is an agglutinative language, which means you can add multiple suffixes to a single root word to express complex ideas. Instead of using separate prepositions and pronouns, you build them directly onto the word. For example, take the word "ev" (house): "evim" (my house) "evimde" (in my house) "evimden" (from my house) "evlerimden" (from my houses) It's like building with LEGO bricks—you can create an entire phrase with just one word! It might seem tricky at first, but it's incredibly logical and fun once you get the hang of it. The Simplicity of Pronunciation Unlike many languages with complex vowel sounds and tricky phonetics, Turkish is very straightforward. It's a phonetic language, meaning you pronounce words exactly as they are written. Every letter has one sound. If you know the alphabet, you can read almost any word. No silent letters, no weird exceptions—just pure, phonetic logic. This makes it super easy to start speaking and feel confident early on in your studies. Harmony is Key Turkish has a unique system called vowel harmony. This means that the vowels in a word must "harmonize" with the first vowel in the root word. For example, if the first vowel is "a," suffixes will use "a" or "ı." If the first vowel is "e," suffixes will use "e" or "i." This might sound like a rule, but it's more like a melody. It gives the language a beautiful, rhythmic flow and makes it sound incredibly pleasant to the ear. It's like the language itself is singing. Learning Turkish isn't just about memorizing words; it's about discovering a system that's both logical and beautiful. If these unique aspects of the language intrigue you, imagine what we can discover together! If you're ready to start your own Turkish language journey, I'd love to help you explore these fascinating parts of the language

When you're having a face to face conversation with someone you don't want to make them do all the work to try to 'figure out what you're trying to say.' You want a clear, flowing, natural conversation with someone. You want to learn what to say and how to say it. And chances are if you're talking with a friend or family member or coworker they aren't going to directly tell you that they didn't understand you completely. You most likely have never been told exactly what you say wrong. Most students have no idea. They know they struggle but they've never actually been told if it's pronunciation or vocabulary or sentence structure. They have never really had someone from the United States really listen to all the sounds that come out of their mouth and watch what their mouth does (If it moves much or not.) Most students are taught that pronunciation isn't important.... then they wonder why they still have such a strong accent that sounds nothing at all like American English. Here are a few ways that I can help you improve your spoken American English so you sound more clear and understandable to native English speakers. That way when you speak to someone they don't have to depend on context which can lead to confusion and mis understanding. I could have a conversation with you and point out either your pronunciation mistakes or your sentence structure mistakes depending on which you choose or you can choose to get corrections on both. You would get typed and verbal corrections from me. I could teach you pronunciation skills. For example how to pronounce short vowels, long vowels and more. I could also help you learn phrasal verbs (most students know and use some but they don't know or use many of them). Prepositions (many students forget to use these or don't use the right one. Vocabulary. I've tutored 3,618 Lessons since August of 2018. You can improve your American English speaking. Check out my tutor schedule and my tutor profile!
