Grammar practice and reading practice serve different purposes—you need both.

Stop Studying Japanese You Hate, Learn With Anime You don't need more textbooks. You need more anime. That is the whole idea behind AJATT, All Japanese All The Time. It was started in 2006 by a learner called Khatzumoto. He reached fluency in 18 months while working a full-time job in the US. No language school in Japan. His method was simple: make Japanese your environment using what you already love. Textbooks fail because they are boring study, it does not stick. Anime does. Here is how to actually learn with anime, AJATT style: 1. Change your phone, YouTube, and Spotify to Japanese. Watch, read, and play what you already enjoy, but in Japanese. Love cooking? Watch Japanese cooking YouTube. Love games? Change your game to Japanese. Love dramas or manga? Watch and read those. Your brain learns faster when it cares. 2. Study actively, not passively. Watching with English subtitles is entertainment, not study. Use Japanese subtitles. When you hear a sentence where you understand everything except one word, save it. Example: 「諦めたらそこで試合終了だよ」 You know 諦める, 試合, 終了. You just learned たら and そこで. That one sentence is worth more than 10 textbook drills. Put 5 of those sentences a day into Anki. That is sentence mining. That is how you remember forever. 3. Input first, output later. Listen and read a lot before you force yourself to speak perfectly. Your brain needs 1000s of hours of natural Japanese before it can produce it naturally. The mistake everyone makes: Watching 10 lessons of your textbook and calling it immersion, and thinking you will be able to speak. If you don't look anything up and don't review, you learn almost nothing. I learned this way for 6 years. Now I live in Tokyo, N1, and I teach what actually worked. If you want to learn Japanese with the anime you love, not with a textbook you hate, let's build your mining system together in a trial lesson. Bring your favorite anime.
