What is gully mean in this sentence?
In his pocket, a piece of pigtail tobacco bitten away at the end, his gully with the crooked handle, a pocket compass.
I looked up the dictionary, it defined as" deep ditch cut by running water (especially after a prolonged downpour)" I don't think it is right here.
