Just like meeting a friend for a cup of coffee, this class is designed for us to get to know each other. I'm going to ask about your language level, goals, and preferred study methods, you can ask me anything related to my classes and teaching style. Looking forward to meeting you!

This class is all about speaking! We will strike up a conversation (you can choose a topic ahead of time or we can see where the class takes us), during which I will monitor for common areas of improvement. We will discuss those notes during natural pauses in the conversation. 

I will provide only as much correction as you are comfortable with, so let me know if you need me to adjust. 

I can also provide suggestions for practice outside of class if you are interested, but the main focus  for class will be stress-free speaking, so let's get started!

Conversational English

The best way to learn any language is to use materials you're interested in. In this class, we focus on your interests. Like reading fantasy novels? Let's read one together! Are you a music lover? Let's learn some lyrics! I've been known to improve my own vocabulary by translating recipes and knitting patterns. 

Whatever theme you love, we'll use it to improve all areas of language learning: listening, reading, speaking and writing. 

Homework will not be assigned unless requested, but I will give you tips on fun ways to continue your language practice outside of class.

The four-week, full-time program was delivered by USA-based professors at WICE, an ex-pat organization in Paris, France.

Junior (third) year spent at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Switzerland, as an exchange student; all courses there were given in French language and counted for credits at my home university.

I have been a freelance online teacher with EF since 2011, working part-time doing both group lessons and private lessons.

I taught in-house classes for industrial and service companies in groups of one to twenty, mostly English, but sometimes French.  Each class followed a plan and generally included an assessment, which I was responsible for completing.

Most of the classes that I taught were for undergraduate engineering students, including general English, writing, and speaking courses.  There were also some classes for graduate engineering students and a limited number of courses in an MA program on English for Industry.  I created the syllabus, chose textbooks, and designed and carried out the assessments for all courses.

Leçon professionnelle

French lessons geared towards young learners from the ages of 5 to 18 years old. 

The 30-minute-long class is dedicated to young students from the ages of 4 or 5 and up who want to learn French in a fun and interactive way. I will speak French as much as possible but with the possibility of giving instructions and explanations in English if necessary. However, I am a huge proponent of the immersion philosophy. Children learn languages really quickly and easily. They understand without having the need to translate like adults often do. Each class will be fun and interactive, with a mix of grammar, vocabulary, phonics, singing, math and games:)

The 45-minute lessons are reserved for kids of all levels, that have the maturity and attention span allowing them to sit in class for 45 minutes.

The one-hour lesson is reserved for older children and adolescents who are studying French at school and want to improve on their skills. Please do not reserve an adult lesson for your adolescent. I have worked really hard at my own material to teach children and young adults.

For better results it is best to book 5 consecutive classes as the lessons build upon themselves. :)

With this certificate, I teach English to Speakers of other languages, grades K- 12. The certificate is issued to applicants with a Bachelor's Degree in  Education who meet the continuing education requirements for renewal every five years. Each subject and endorsement on the certificate requires the teacher to pass a certification exam or equivalent University Degree exams.
