Dietary Culture 饮食文化（yǐn shí wén huà）: FromSimple Farm Food to Class-Based Dining&nbsp;</h3> Agriculture laid the foundation of daily food across the three dynasties. TheXiaDynasty 夏朝（xià cháo）relied heavily on millet 粟（sù）as the main staple, alongside small amounts of rice. Farming remained basic; people supplemented grain with wild plants, fish and limited domesticated animals. Cooking methods were simple: boiling and roasting over open fire. Meals wereplain, and there was little difference between rulers and commoners in dailyfood. The Shang Dynasty 商朝（shāng cháo） brought greater diversity. The famous Houmuwu Ding 后母戊鼎（hòu mǔ wù dǐng）demonstrates the superb metalworking skills of the time. Besides bronze work, the Shang invented oracle bone script 甲骨文（jiǎ gǔ wén） —China’s earliest mature writing system. Inscriptions on turtle shells 龟壳（guī ké）and ox bones牛骨（niú gǔ）recorded eclipses 日食（rì shí）, harvests, wars and royal divination, offering precious historical evidence. Astronomers systematically tracked stars and celestial events. <img src="https://ofs-cdn.italki.com/u/internal/galaxy/message/daok9b7g3tfs73bik3t0.png"> During the Zhou Dynasty, handicrafts 手工业（shǒu gōng yè） became highly specialized. Late in the Western Zhou 西周（xī zhōu）, primitiveironsmelting appeared, previewing the coming Iron Age 铁器时代（tiě qì shí dài）. Social Customs 社会风俗（shè huì fēng sú）: Worship, Familyand Community Life</h3><h3>&nbsp;</h3>Spiritual beliefs shaped nearly all daily customs. In the Xia Dynasty, peoplemainly worshipped nature, mountains, rivers and ancestors. Communities were organized by clans 氏族（shì zú）. Clan leaders held power, andcollective sacrificial ceremonies united the tribe. Customs were relatively simple, without complex formal rules.&nbsp; The Shang people deeply believed in ghosts, gods and ancestral spirits. Before every important event — war, hunting, planting crops or marriage—royals carried out divination on oracle bones to seek divine guidance. Large-scale animal sacrifice was common, and human sacrifice 人殉（rénxùn）was practiced in royal burials to serve deceased nobles in the afterlife. Funeral customs 丧葬习俗（sāng zàng xí sú）showed clear gaps betweensocial classes: wealthy tombs were filled with jade 玉器（yù qì）andbronzegoods 青铜器（qīng tóng qì）, while common graves contained almost noburial objects.&nbsp; The Zhou Dynasty rejected extreme Shang-era human sacrifice and rebuilt social customs around family ethics. What is the Passato Remoto in Italian&nbsp;2. How to conjugate it&nbsp;3. When to use it&nbsp;4. Examples Are you ready? Let's dive in!&nbsp; <h3>1. What is the Passato Remoto in Italian&nbsp;</h3> Have you ever asked yourself why the Passato Remoto is called that?&nbsp;It obviously refers to the past, but the adjective remoto tells us a little more about its&nbsp;meaning.&nbsp;It is remote, distant, and far removed from us. But how far exactly?&nbsp; What will surprise you is that we Italians don't only measure time in seconds, minutes,&nbsp;hours, days, months, and years. We feel it. In fact, our relationship with time is intense&nbsp;and deeply connected to our own perspective. What do I mean by that? Even if an event&nbsp;happened a long time ago, we may still feel emotionally close to it, and the opposite can&nbsp;also be true.&nbsp; For instance, if an event does not feel personally connected to us anymore, we will feel&nbsp;distant from it, and that is when we would use the Passato Remoto to describe it.&nbsp; Spoiler alert: for events that are perceived close, you can refer to the Passato Prossimo&nbsp;instead.&nbsp; Now that we've learned what this tense is, let's see how its conjugation works!&nbsp; <h3>2. The frustrating truth is that your school taught you how to write English, but they may have accidentally taught your mouth the wrong physical habits to speak it.&nbsp; Imagine you are sitting at your computer typing an email. You use the exact keyboard layout you have used for years. Your fingers move fast because they know where every letter is. Now imagine someone swaps your keyboard with a different layout from another country. The letters are all mixed up.&nbsp; You sit down to type. You know exactly what you want to say in your mind. But your fingers keep hitting the wrong keys. You slow down, make mistakes, and delete the same word three times. Is that a brain problem? Did you forget how to spell? No. Your hands are just reaching for the old habits they practiced for decades on your original layout.&nbsp; This is the exact hidden reason why you still have a strong accent in English. How do I know this? After testing the speech patterns of thousands of people from all over the world, I saw the exact same errors repeating themselves. Your accent is not random. It is a natural habit based on your first language.&nbsp; <h3>The Reality of International Business&nbsp;</h3> When you speak English, your mouth is trying to use a specific physical system. In global business, remote work, and tech, Standard North American English is the most common format used for international meetings.&nbsp;This is simply a practical reality:&nbsp; ● International Media: People around the world consume movies, videos, and podcasts. Because of this, global ears are used to hearing this specific speech flow.&nbsp;● Easy Listening: When you speak with this rhythm, international clients process your words easily. They can focus on your ideas instead of trying hard to understand your words.&nbsp;If your goal is to be understood instantly without people asking you to repeat yourself, learning these basic sound patterns is the fastest path. <h3>How Native Mouth Habits Create an Accent&nbsp;</h3> When you speak your first language, your mouth movements happen on autopilot. But when you use those same mouth habits to speak English, it creates an accent:&nbsp; ● Languages like Mandarin &amp; Cantonese: Your native habits use pitch changes to mean different words. In English, this causes you to drop your voice suddenly and cut words short. A word like product gets cut off, so the final letters disappear and people miss your point.&nbsp;● Arabic: Your throat muscles are trained to make deep sounds at the back of your airway. English uses sounds at the front of the mouth.
