"A conversation is a talk between two or more people, in which thoughts, feelings, and ideas are expressed, questions are asked and answered, or news and information is exchanged." With this definition in mind, you know that we can talk about anything. I respect everyone's political and religious ideas, but I would prefer to avoid these topics in our conversations.

Maybe we'll find a good subject to talk about spontaneously, or we'll pick a subject together at your convenience. Whether you want to talk about your last vacation, an article you recently read, a movie you liked, or a sport activity you do (non-exhaustive list), it will be a good opportunity for you to practice and improve your French, as I will be here to correct your small mistakes and give you advice.

Hello, and welcome to your new adventure! To get started in French, you will need some essential knowledge.

- PRONOUNCIATION
First of all, we'll work on phonetics with audio or video documents, or even my own voice, to give you the basics of French pronunciation. Soon enough, you'll be able to pronounce your first words.

- BASIC SENTENCE
Then, we'll see the basic structure of a sentence. "What does a sentence look like in French?", "How can you make a basic sentence to make French people understand you?" Thanks to some examples and explanations, you'll soon be ready to make your own sentences.

- CONJUGATION
To make sentences, you'll need to know how to conjugate verbs and how to use them in a sentence. That's why we'll have to focus on conjugation for a while.

This is a non-exhaustive list of things to learn to begin with French, but after a few lessons, you'll be able, among other things, to write your first basic notes on Italki. That's already a big progress!

Of course, we can take a break whenever you like so that you can ask me questions and fully understand what we are studying together. (Do not hesitate to interrupt me whenever you want.)

French For Beginners

If you're taking this type of lesson for the first time, we'll start by defining your goals and I'll guide you through the four different parts that make up these exams.

- READING
We'll use DELF or DALF learning materials such as ABC DELF/DALF, and newspaper or magazine articles. During the lessons, we'll do the exercises together, then I'll correct your mistakes and explain the grammatical points and the vocabulary related to the exercises.

- LISTENING
For that part, we'll use online and personalized resources including exercises on different subjects.

- WRITING
To prepare for the writing part, we'll review typical DELF and DALF subjects and work accordingly. We can, for example in the case of DELF, see how to write and respond to a letter or an email, how to express an opinion and how to organize your arguments. I will also teach you sentence structures to hone your writing skills.

- SPEAKING:
For the speaking part, I will teach you the vocabulary to use during your presentation, the methodology for a successful presentation and the right way to structure your thoughts. We will also see how to optimize your preparation time and we 'll pay special attention to your pronunciation and your turns of phrase.

At the end of each lesson, we'll review the points you need to work on, and if you want, I can give you exercises to do for the next lesson. When you're ready, we'll do a mock exam.

IMPORTANT: I will always be there to support you, guide you, correct your mistakes if necessary and give you advice. Don't worry! ;)

- GRAMMAR
We'll be focusing on slightly more complex grammar concepts. We study with a book and put these notions into practice through numerous exercises, and conversations.

- SPOKEN FRENCH
Your level of French means that you can speak French more or less well. So we'll have conversations on a range of topics, both easy and not-so-easy, to put your vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation to the test. Each conversation will be corrected and I'll give you explanations for any mistakes you make. This way, you'll take notes that will help you avoid making the same mistakes in the future.

- WRITTEN FRENCH
Writing is a skill that may seem less essential, but is really important. When you write, you take time to think about your sentence structure, conjugations and the vocabulary you use. ‘Is this word masculine or feminine? Should I add an ‘s’ to the end of the word?’ And many other questions. So I'll get you working on that all-important written skill that will take your French to the next level.
