We will make self introductions and go over your Chinese learning goals and interests. And you will have a general idea on how my class works!

Whether you learn Mandarin for travel, work, or test preparation, the HSK is a good place to start easily and fun!

HSK 1: By the end of HSK 1 learning, you will manage about 150 vocabularies. You will be able to communicate with people by simple expressions, including greetings, introducing yourself and your family, describing date, talking about weather, and asking simple questions.

HSK 2: Your vocabulary is expected to reach 300 by the end of learning. You will be able to make simple daily conversations with others, including your work, hobbies, and family. You will also be more familiar with some Chinese culture. Basic grammars will be included in the lessons.

HSK 3: Your vocabulary is expected to reach 600 by the end of learning. The learning contents are transferring from simple conversations to longer narrative paragraphs. More complex grammar will be included in each lesson. You will start to know some common sayings in Chinese.

HSK 4: Your vocabulary is expected to reach 1200 by the end of learning. The contents become more advanced. You will be able to understand compound words based on the knowledge you have gained. You will also be able to differentiate the meaning of similar vocabularies. You will be more comfortable and flexible when talking with others.

HSK 5-6: Your vocabulary is expected to reach 2500 and 5000 respectively by the end of learning. The learning contents will be more complex including newspapers, literature, and ancient stories. You will be able to manage a wide spectrum of idioms and native expressions. You can use Chinese effectively in work and academic situations.

Conversational Chinese

Integrated Chinese is one of the most widely used textbook in the United States. It is a good material for beginners and intermediate Chinese learners who want to improve their Chinese in daily usage.
