A get-to-know you session where we assess together your learning needs, expectations and wishes, and where I present to you my preferred teaching methods and make them suit your level. You will get a sense of my style and of the energy in my classes.
I will engage you in some light conversation and a sprinkle of reading and translation to ease you into the process.
We will devise short and medium-term goals if you wish to engage further in a lesson plan.

This introductory course, aimed at absolute beginners or those who (still) feel like absolute beginners, gently nudges you towards understanding of the alphabet pronounciation, rythm and basic conversation in Romanian. It also focuses on reading and collaborative translation as tools for the discovery of a new culture and language. Plenty of media-related materials will be provided (translated music/clips etc.) as well as light grammar exercises and light grammar theory. Emphasis will be put on a stress-free, Zen-ish atmosphere - the best way to learn a language, after all, is to dance as if nobody's watching - or speak without being afraid of any grammar mistake...

Let me steep you in light-hearted, engaging conversation in romanian : on every subject imaginable and a few unimaginable ones, with a little course-correction now and then, towards the right way of putting your ideas into phrases.

The course also provides theoretical and practical grammar on more complex points, as well as translation studies and reading comprehension.
