This class includes homework and we will use Google Docs to keep a record of notes for your benefit.

Conversation / Speaking Fluency / Pronunciation: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced

In this class we will focus on the Academic Word List (AWL) and how this vocabulary list can help you score higher on important tests such as the IELTS and TOEFL.

There is homework given for this class and is intended for motivated English users who plan to take the IELTS or TOEFL tests.  

This class is appropriate for intermediate and advanced English levels (CEFR B1-C2)

IELTS and TOEFL Preparation: Intermediate and Advanced

In this class we will focus on writing that is important for you.  We can work on essays, academic papers, email, and even informal areas like text messaging and social media.

There is homework given for this class and I will provide feedback to the writing samples you give me.  Class time will be spent discussing feedback, grammar, and your questions.

This class is appropriate for all English levels (CEFR A1-C2)

Writing and Grammar: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced

This is a 20 lesson course on American English pronunciation. During this course, we will cover basics such as consonant and vowel sounds. We will also practice more advanced topics such as linking, thought groups, and English rhythm.

There will be an assessment test at the beginning of the course and a final test at the end to see what you have learned. This course is more intense than other lessons and you will have homework after each lesson. We will be using YouTube videos and Google Docs for the course.

After completing this course, you will have the knowledge and resources to speak more clearly and confidently. This course is designed for university students and adults at a level of A2 and above.

American Pronunciation Course

Taught TOEFL course to college-aged international students.

Taught ESL to visiting international students during a 3 week IEP.

Taught 2 semesters of an undergraduate Communications course as part of my master's program.

Taught various EFL courses to adults as the lead teacher.

Former faculty member of the SCAD Language Studio.  I taught ESL to undergraduate and graduate students who specialize in art and design.  I have experience teaching upper-level courses in reading, writing, and grammar.
