I don't need any preparation for new students, I'm always ready to go!

These are casual conversation-based lessons without a set structure: We can talk about everyday situations, practise a few common situations (ordering coffee, reserving a hotel room or some simple small talk) or practise specific skills (making a telephone call, writing basic emails). I'll give you everything you need to get started for these conversation-based lessons: new vocabulary to learn, useful phrases for everyday situations, and expert tips for memorisation. 

We can base our lessons on your current study plan, to include language learning apps like Duolingo, Babbel or Anki, use any course books you are currently using and also include things like podcasts and YouTube videos. No problem if you don't have any study material yet - I can provide this to you for free. Learning a language from a basic level involves having many different options and I will help you find your perfect learning style, and I can also show you all the best methods and tricks to get there quickly - and we'll have a lot fun along the way!

German Conversation Practise, All levels

I regularly train students for specific exams, with levels ranging from A1 to C2 for German on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). These exams could be a requirement for immigration/integration, or entry into higher or tertiary education.

All test preparation deals with the categories of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and I will prepare you for all of these sections. If you want to give me a deadline (ie. your examination appointment date), then I will assess your skills and put together a project plan of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation topics and exercises you will need to ace the test!

Exam preparation for Goethe & TELC Certificates, All levels

These are structured lessons to kick-start your language learning at a beginner level. We can use any kind of resources that either you or I provide as a course (I have many different options available for free), we can use your favourite apps, online courses or YouTube channels as learning material, and I can show you all the tricks and tips I know for rapid learning and effective memory retention. 

I will make sure to evaluate your progress along the way, I will suggest topics that could be covered next and work on all your skills (speaking, reading, writing and listening) in a balanced way, so that you quickly become a German speaker who handle a variety of different situations without stress or pressure. The idea is to get you into real-life conversations as soon as possible and also to turn you into an independent learning machine in only a few lessons!

German for Beginners: Vocabulary, Grammar & Pronunciation

Do you want to sound like a German native speaker? 

I can teach you very specific pronunciation techniques used by actors, singers and business professionals. My Accent Reduction Program will help you communicate more clearly and confidently. I will give you the tools and expertise to develop a perfect accent. I'll teach you how to move your mouth, make new sounds and sound like a native speaker. We'll use the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) and a chart that shows the different sounds. We can use MP3 files, Anki or any other audio tools to help you train your listening and speaking skills, I'll show you how to imitate any speaking style, and radically change how you sound. The standard German accent is called "Hochdeutsch" and I am a native speaker, if you need a different, regional accent such as Austrian or Swiss, I can do this too, no problem.

I'll encourage you to set up a daily routine to practise your material and we'll measure your progress throughout the course. Student typically book a course of ten lessons to complete the whole Accent Reduction Program, and you will need to be able to practise at least 15 minutes a day for the training to be effective. If you want to, you could provide me with a few recordings of your current accent for me to study and analyse, and also some details about which languages your speak, specifics about your particular region or dialect and anything else that might help me put together the best training package for you.

I completed a 5-year Bachelor course in Engineering.

I taught approx. 7500 hours in Berlin, 25% of those were German ranging from A1 - B2 and 75% for Business English for advanced students. Approximately 10% of the total hours were done online, the rest were in group classes on-site.
