🧑‍🎓 Writing for Exams (IELTS, TOEFL, FCE, CAE, etc.)

I have eight years' experience in professional proofreading, editing, and copywriting, so I can help with any writing task you’re working on.

My experience spans all forms, types and genres:

My editing skills are underpinned by a Merit in a 12-month professional proofreading qualification with the Publishing Training Centre.

Send over the document and I will work through it, editing the grammar, language, syntax, flow, readability and structure, making suggestions where I think a better word or phrase could be used. 

Then I will send you my feedback as well as a summary of areas for improvement.

Depending on the complexity of the text, I can usually proofread 1,000 words per hour, and there are two options for returning the work: 

- With my standard service, I can almost always return the document within 48 hours of receiving it, and guaranteed within 72 hours (unless it is over 5,000 words) 
- Priority service is for urgent jobs that need to be returned in 24 hours (for these I would add a small extra fee).

👩‍💻 Proofreading & Editing (Offline Class)

My online writing lessons are designed for students who need to develop their writing skills, either for work or study, an English exam like IELTS or CAE, or to finally write that book they’ve been thinking about. 

We can focus on practicing the type of writing you need to create regularly, like emails or essays, so that you can become really confident in that specific format. Or, we can mix things up and practice different kinds of writing to what you’re used to, in order to loosen up your approach, and stimulate more creative thinking patterns.

Either way, my approach in these lessons is on teaching long term writing skills, not just correcting your work. I think it’s really important to focus on the ‘why’ more so than the ‘what’, to help you understand the exact reasons one word choice or sentence structure is better than another, so that we can demystify the concept of good writing and break it down into principles that make sense and that you can easily implement into your practice.

So, when we review a piece of your text together, we’ll always go beyond grammatical issues and discuss the wider mechanics of writing, including:
- Structure
- Clarity of message
- Succinctness
- Readability
- How ‘natural’ your language sounds 
….among many other things. 

And of course, we will also talk about grammar too!

We’ll used a shared document like Google Docs to keep a thorough record of all our notes, for you to refer back to at any point.

This 12-month professional training course has equipped me with all the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out proofreading and editing work to the highest level of professionalism and accuracy.

I have seven years' experience of proofreading and editing in a professional capacity, both as a freelance English as a Second Language (ESL) proofreader and within my previous jobs.

My experience spans many genres, from Postgraduate dissertations and academic texts, to corporate reports to fictional novels.

I achieved a Merit in a professional proofreading qualification with the Publishing Training Centre.
