COURSE LEVEL: Intermediate (B1) and above. You should be able to talk freely in English and express your ideas, even if you make mistakes (mistakes are okay!). 

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Want to practice your speaking skills? You’ve come to the right place :)

My conversation practice lessons are for intermediate and advanced students who want to speak more fluently or build their vocabulary. 

I offer two types of Conversation Practice:
1. Free Talk (Unplanned Conversation): This class is simple – in my free talk classes, we will just talk! We will talk about your day, your interests, or anything else you’d like to! I do not plan ahead for these courses, but will provide you with a list of new words after class.
2. Planned Conversation: Before class, we will decide on a topic you would like to discuss. In class, I will use a slideshow with questions to guide you through the topic. We will both discuss our viewpoints on the topic and build our vocabulary together! This is more structured – if you are looking to improve vocabulary and speaking at the same time, this is a good fit for you. 

MATERIALS USED: If you book Free Talk lessons, I will not prepare anything beforehand, but will provide you with a list of new words at the end of class. If you book Planned Conversation, I will teach using slideshows or word documents. After class, you will be sent all of the materials we went through. If you would like homework, please let me know!

CANCELLATION POLICY: I understand that sometimes, we need to reschedule our lessons! Perhaps you are feeling sick, had something come up, or just need a mental health day. If you do, that’s okay.  
- If you can not make it to our class but let me know sometime before the class starts, you will be refunded the credits.

Conversation Practice

COURSE LEVEL: Advanced (B2-C2); students taking this class should have good knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary. Intermediate students may be able to take this class. Please message me to see if this is a good fit for you. 

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Linguistics is my major in college, and it’s also my passion! In this course, I will introduce you to the world of linguistics as it relates to English, and we can talk about it together! 

Have you ever wondered why in British English, you say chips, but in American English, you say french fries? Or have you ever wondered what words and their different parts mean? This is a great course for you, then! In this course, we will answer these questions! 

Some example topics include:
- phonetics (speech sounds)
- phonology (rules about those speech sounds)
- morphology (structure of words)
- syntax (sentence structure)
- semantics (meaning)
- pragmatics (meaning in context)
- linguistic anthropology and sociolinguistics (study of language, culture, and society)
- second language acquisition (how we learn languages)
- and more!

MATERIALS USED: I will teach using slideshows or word documents. I will also use a supplementary textbook depending on the students’ level. After class, you will be sent all of the materials we went through. If you would like homework, please let me know!

English Linguistics

COURSE LEVEL: Intermediate and above; this course is for students at a level between A2 and B1. You should be able to speak some English, and should be comfortable with having classes 100% in English. Not sure if this course is right for you? Send me a message!

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This class is for intermediate and advanced students looking to improve specific areas of English. Before class, send me a message and explain what you would like to work on. Grammar? Vocabulary? Reading? Whatever it is, let me know! Let's work on it together!

I will prepare lesson plans and share them with you. After class, I will provide you with materials and additional help so you can improve your English even further!

Personalized English Lessons

COURSE LEVEL: B1 (Intermediate) and above; students should have basic knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary, and should be familiar with forming most tenses. Not sure if this course is right for you? Send me a message!

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This lesson is for students who are looking to improve their overall skills in English. In this lesson, we will use an innovative teaching method called TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling).

How does it work? During class, we will read a short text that utilizes several grammar points and vocabulary words. I will guide you through the text and ask you to produce sentences using the structures. Then, we will write our own story! 

Through this method, you will improve your reading, speaking, and writing skills, as well as improving your critical thinking skills.
