A chance for us to get to know each other, and for you to get a small sample of my teaching style.

We will take a text from my collection of teaching material and read together. I will make sure your pronunciation is understandable and then we will translate it into English, and I will explain any tricky terms or grammatical concepts as we come across them. If you have any requests for any specific type of material, I will try to find it online or at my library.

If you are at an appropriate level for it, we can also do some conversation in these lessons.

If you are a complete beginner, I recommend starting with the pronunciation classes.

Reading and conversation

This is where we are going to work on you mastering Danish pronunciation. We will take exercises from a pronunciation text book that contains short stories focused on specific features of Danish pronunciation. We will go through these stories line by line and I will correct any sounds or words you have trouble with, as well as working on getting the right rhythm and emphasis. 

Beware, this will take some patience and persistence to get right. But if your goal is to have an accent that's close to a native accent, I recommend spending time on your pronunciation as early as possible, so you can develop good pronunciation habits.

Pronunciation

These lessons are meant specifically for people who are planning to take one of the Danish government's language tests, Prøve i dansk 2/3 or Studieprøven. I have a lot of old tests we can practice with, and I can tell you the tricks I know have worked for other people to succeed at these tests. I believe the best way to prepare for these tests is to have worked with a lot of old tests, since you will find that there is a clear pattern in the kinds of tasks you are given in these tests.

There will be homework for these lessons.
