Are you an Adult? Do you feel like escaping reality for a few hours each week? Escape into post-apocalyptic Chicago. The surviving humans are divided into 'factions'. Groups defined by their main characteristic. What happens when you don't fit into any one group?

This is a book discussion class (followed by the movie at the end). Read the assigned chapters and then show up ready to discuss on Saturday! What are your thoughts on the book? Did you find any new vocabulary, phrasal verbs, phrases, etc?

Read 3-4 chapters each week (or listen to them...or read & listen) and then we'll gather to discuss them. Our goal is to have so much fun that you won't notice you are practicing your English skills. Life happens sometimes, so if you're not able to read or listen to the chapters in English, do it in your native language - we'll still discuss in English! Another option is to read the summary on Spark Notes (Google "Spark Notes Insurgent" to find chapter summaries).

At the start of the course, you’ll receive a **comprehensive PDF** designed to support podcast-based learning: note-taking frameworks, discussion prompts, and tools to help you move from passive listening to active analysis.

**How the class works**

You are expected to arrive having watched or listened to the assigned content — **at least 20–30 minutes**. This is non-negotiable. If you haven’t engaged with the material, there’s no real way to contribute meaningfully to the discussion.

You’re encouraged to take notes: key ideas, quotes, reactions, questions. Memory is unreliable; progress comes from intention. This is how practice turns into improvement.
