INTRODUCTION: Already in or planning to go to America? Worried about guns? Afraid of being shot? Yes, Americans have the right to have guns and there are shootings, but you don’t have to live in fear. As a matter of fact, many Americans may go their whole lives without ever being directly exposed to an active shooting situation, which means you may not either. However, knowing what to do if you’re ever caught in one can increase your chances of surviving. In this Coming to America session, you’ll learn some life-saving tips you can use if you ever find yourself in an active shooter situation. IN THIS CLASS: (1) You will watch a short video about what to do in an active shooter event. (2) You will engage in an informative discussion regarding active shooter events in America. THIS CLASS IS FOR: (1) Those who are already in or planning to go to America. (2) Those who want some tips on how to survive an active shooter event in America. MATERIALS NEEDED: “Run. Hide. Fight. Surviving an Active Shooter Event” Short Film (shown during class by teacher) Coming to America: Active Shooter Event Note-Taking Sheet (download from lesson page) PREPARATION: Decide the name you prefer the teacher and group members to call you during the session, and enter it as your Display Name on Zoom. BONUS: Surviving an Active Shooter Event Information Sheet of content covered will be sent after class.
