Class description

In this class, we will learn about the trending concept of FOMO as well as the causes and effects of failure in our society. We will start with a warm-up where we narrate the story of the Hare and the Tortoise. (if you don't know the story, have a quick look at the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfsGU4L7iTw). We will then have a discussion about where our fear of failure comes from (our family context, our teachers, our bosses, social media, etc.) After that, we will explore the world of FOMO (fear of missing out) and JOMO (joy of missing out) and decide to what extent we are all affected by these two phenomena. You can learn more about them with this link: https://www.bbc.com/reel/video/p07qchmm/why-you-should-embrace-the-joy-of-missing-out

After this class, you’ll have learned

VOCABULARY: high-level words to help the student narrate a story and debate an argument, as well as colloquial expressions to describe failure and success GRAMMAR: structuring arguments for and against statements; using alternative expressions rather than "I think" or "in my opinion" FLUENCY: improving chronological structure of events through story-telling as well as the flow of natural conversation through expressing opinions and challenging others' arguments
