Class description

A lot is going on in the world, right? Let’s discuss it together! This group class is designed for adult English learners (B2–C1) who want to improve their speaking skills while discussing current events from around the world. Each week, we’ll explore what’s happening globally while learning useful vocabulary, phrases, and expressions, all guided by a professional teacher and shared with classmates from different countries. First, we will start with three top news stories of the week, followed by a warmup chat on the given topics. Students will then work with a partner in breakout rooms to discuss the issue in more detail. You’ll receive a list of questions to help guide your conversation with your partner. At the end, we will all return to the main session and review new vocabulary and corrections, which will be sent in a PDF at the end of class. This group class is for students with a level of B2-C1 English. If you are unsure of your level or have questions, please contact me. ***Please note: In this class, we’ll discuss real news and current events, which may include topics related to politics, global conflicts, and other sensitive issues. The goal is to practice English respectfully while sharing different perspectives. Please be mindful that everyone comes from different backgrounds, and respectful, thoughtful communication is essential. This class is for open-minded learners who are comfortable discussing real-world topics in a respectful and supportive environment***

After this class, you’ll have learned

The goal of this lesson is to discuss real-world events and current news while expanding your vocabulary and building your confidence as an English speaker, all in a relaxed and engaging environment. Since this is a conversation-based class, I encourage all students to participate actively, ask questions, and share their opinions with each other. The focus is on natural communication and meaningful discussion. Please note that, because this is a group class, I won’t interrupt to correct individual mistakes during the conversation. Instead, I will take notes throughout the session and provide collective feedback, corrections, and key vocabulary to everyone at the end of the class.
