Class description

Can you spot a lie based on a single word? In this group lesson, we take Spanish learning to a high-stakes level. We will use the interactive platform Impostor.me to play a linguistic version of social deduction. Unlike the traditional "Among Us," there are no spaceships here: your only weapon is your vocabulary. Game Dynamics Synchronization: Each student will connect to a private room on Impostor.me via their browser or mobile device while we maintain our Zoom video call. The Secret Word: The system automatically assigns a secret word to the "Citizens." The "Impostor" does not know the word but receives a general clue or category. The Clue Round: One by one, each student says a single word related to the secret word. The Challenge: As a Citizen, you must prove you know the word without making it too obvious for the Impostor. The Challenge: As the Impostor, you must camouflage yourself by using words that seem to fit the pattern. Debate and Judgment: After the clues are revealed, we open the floor for debate on Zoom. This is where your B2+ skills shine: you must interrogate, defend yourself, use sarcasm, express doubt, and apply logic to convince the group who should be ejected.

After this class, you’ll have learned

- Semantic Precision: You will learn to choose the exact word to describe concepts without being explicit, working on high-level synonymy and mental associations. - Advanced Debate Structures: Practice using second and third-order conditionals (e.g., "If he were the impostor, he wouldn't have chosen such a technical word" or "It would have been better if you had said..."). - Managing Ambiguity: Develop the ability to understand cultural nuances and double meanings in your classmates' clues. - Fluency Under Pressure: Improve your oral response speed by defending your innocence against direct accusations from the group in real-time.

I believe language learning is a journey of discovery. Years ago, I started encouraging students to reflect on how language works—not just to learn Spanish, but to understand their own native tongue. Today, I use a metacognitive approach: I help you "think about your thinking" to improve faster. I’m a creative, practical, and patient teacher. I love creating activities on the spot to keep things dynamic while breaking down complex topics into simple, clear ideas. By focusing on how you learn as much as what you learn, I create a safe space for you to experiment and grow. My goal is to bridge the gap between struggling and mastering Spanish with confidence.
