Doublethink is normal. Independent thought is prohibited. History is regularly not only re-written but erased. You must love Big Brother and hate your enemies. "1984" introduced the words "Big Brother", "Doublethink", and "Newspeak" into the English language. Written in the 1940's the themes of this book are still present today - almost 80 years later. Banned in multiple countries for being pro-communist, anti-communist, and containing "indecent" scenes, "1984" continues to generate discussion and leave the reader with questions that cannot be answered. Bring your book, favorite beverage, questions and comments to this session and join us in analyzing and discussing George Orwell's terrifying vision of the future. This is a safe, judgment-free zone that welcomes ALL. How This Course Works: **IMPORTANT - The book is not included in the Course price - you need to provide your own copy. You MUST read the assigned pages BEFORE class** This Course is 3 classes long and will discuss George Orwell’s “1984”. The class meets weekly on the same day and at the same time. Each class will focus on a different part of the book. Reading Schedule: Class 1 - Introduction & Part One (Chapter 1 - Chapter 8) Class 2 - Part Two (Chapter 1 - Chapter 10) Class 3 - Part Three (Chapter 1 - Chapter 6) **Closed Captions will be enabled - each student can choose to use them or turn them off. If all students approve, the class will be recorded (audio and transcript only, no video). These files will be provided after each class has ended.

Class Cancellation Policy: Classes must be cancelled or rescheduled more than 24 hours before the class. Classes canceled within 24 hours of the lesson will be charged.
