Class description

76% of Indians would fight for their country. Only 33% of British people would. Across Western Europe, more people would refuse than agree. This lesson examines what patriotism is, where it becomes nationalism, and why the willingness to sacrifice for a nation varies so enormously from one country to the next. We look at whether love of country unites people or divides them, whether governments manufacture it, and whether it can survive in multicultural societies.
