Class description
"Get" is one of the most common verbs in the English language. Most native speakers can't live without it. However, it has many meanings and can be confusing to learners. This class will explore some of the most common ways we use "get" to help you understand what it means and how to use it in everyday conversations. When you use "get" correctly, your English will become more natural and expressive, and your conversations will flow more easily.
We will do a short reading and/or listening activity. Then, we will do a short vocabulary activity in which you will learn the most important uses of "get" in everyday English. Finally, we will practice using "get" in small-group conversations. At the end of the class, I will provide feedback and/or corrections. After the lesson, I will send you some worksheets you can do for homework.
***After you register for the class, please print the class materials file, which contains some worksheets that we will do together during the class. You do NOT need to do anything else with the worksheets, but please print them and have a pen or pencil ready to write down your answers during the class. If you can't or do not want to print them, please have them ready to view on your device, and be prepared to write or type your answers somewhere else.
After this class, you’ll have learned

Certified professional English teacher (CELTA, B.A.-English) and native speaker

I really enjoy getting to know my students—not only in terms of their linguistic needs and capacities, but also as human beings with interests and experiences vastly different from my own who have a lot to teach me about life and about the world. I welcome diverse viewpoints and I appreciate honesty and humility.
Humility is extremely important when you’re learning, because learning involves making mistakes. I know this can be intimidating, so I will always try to create a safe and familiar space in which you can feel comfortable taking risks and trying new things in English, knowing that if you do make a mistake, I can help you turn it into an excellent learning opportunity.
