Class description
If you're looking to grow your English-speaking confidence and improve your conversational skills, then you've come to the right place! In this speaking club, we'll talk about a range of fun, fascinating and often universal topics in a safe and mistake-friendly environment. We'll discuss things like technology, social issues, interpersonal relationships and the overall human experience through a mix of relaxed, free-flowing conversation and focused speaking activities that encourage the practice of certain language skills and grammar structures. The conversations will be interesting and deep, but you can expect them to be light and fun as well.
Some of the topics we'll discuss include:
- Travel
- How to not pursue happiness
- Should we all quit social media?
*There will be a new topic every week, but it won't change from day to day during the week. For example, Monday's topic will be the same as Thursday's.*
Before class you'll: 👨🏽💻
1) Read an interesting article or watch an informative video to prepare you for the discussion topic
2) Note any new vocabulary words & expressions that you can potentially practice using in class
In class you'll: 🗣 & 👂🏾
1) Discuss the article or video assigned before class
2) Go deeper into the topic in order to further develop your conversational speaking and listening skills in groups
3) Be so interested and engaged that your head will explode (in a positive way!)
If you'd like to know the topic before signing up, please feel free to message me!

Andrew McNiece
TEFL-certified English teacher with nearly 5 years of experience teaching conversation classes

What I love about being a teacher is seeing a new vocabulary word or grammar concept "click" for a student. When that light bulb goes off in the student's head, I feel a deep sense of purpose and joy seeing them grow in real time. Examples I often give in class include jokes, because I believe students learn better with a laugh. However, I am not a clown and won't force myself to be funny, because I know that can be obnoxious. My worst nightmare is a bored student. What's yours?
**ALSO** I DON'T GIVE LESSONS TO KIDS. I recommend searching for a teacher with experience teaching kids. There are some great ones on Italki!
