Class description

This lesson explores how artificial intelligence is likely to reshape different careers. Perfect for thoughtful discussion and real-world vocabulary building.

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:Vocabulary & Terminology Use 8–10 key terms related to AI and employment (e.g., AI exposure, augment vs. automate, knowledge work, productivity multiplier, demand elasticity, reshape) accurately in context. Data Analysis & Interpretation Interpret Andrej Karpathy’s AI Job Risk Map by explaining what box size and color intensity represent, and correctly categorize jobs according to their AI exposure levels (0–10). Critical Thinking & Reasoning Analyze why certain jobs have high or low AI exposure by comparing their core tasks (digital vs. physical/embodied work) and provide reasoned explanations supported by examples from the map. Speaking & Discussion Skills Participate in extended, thoughtful discussions: express opinions about AI’s impact on jobs, make predictions about future employment trends, and suggest personal career preparation strategies using target language. Real-World Application Evaluate the potential economic and social implications of AI on different industries and compare how AI might affect the job market in the US versus their own country.
