Break down
 
"Break down" означает сломаться или перестать работать. Например, когда мы говорим, “моя машина "broke down", это значит “моя машина сломалась или перестала работать.” 

1. My car broke down on the way to work.
Моя машина сломалась по дороге на работу.

2. The washing machine broke down yesterday.
Стиральная машина сломалась вчера.
