Present Tense in Real Life: I work vs I'm working | Real American English #113
Description
"What are you doing?" "I cook." "Where do you work?" "I am working in a bank." Many learners mix up the two present tenses, because many languages use one present form for both habits and right now. Translated directly, the answer sounds odd to American ears. Others say "I am knowing" or "I am wanting," because their language allows it.
In this episode:
• Habits and facts: the simple present
• Right now and for now: the present continuous
• State verbs: no -ing (usually)
• "i'm loving it" and "i'm good"
• Scene: a busy morning
• Practice
• Self-check questions with answers
