Бронза, альбомы и картины на стенах, изображавшие море с корабликами, луг с коровками и рейнские виды, были до такой степени не новы, что взгляд только скользил по ним и не замечал их. Праздничное настроение стало уже прискучать. Анна Акимовна по-прежнему чувствовала себя красивою, доброю и необыкновенною, но уже ей казалось, что это никому не нужно; казалось ей, что и это дорогое платье она надела неизвестно для кого и для чего. И ее уже, как это бывало во все праздники, стали томить одиночество и неотвязная мысль, что ее красота, здоровье, богатство – один лишь обман, так как она лишняя на этом свете, никому она не нужна, никто ее не любит. Она прошлась по всем комнатам, напевая и поглядывая в окна. Остановившись в зале, она не могла удержаться, чтобы не заговорить с Мишенькой.

“Well, as I’m still a uni  student, doing things on the cheap is something I've had to learn over the last few years, and just the weekend before last, myself and my 2 best mates had a really wonderful day out that cost next to nothing.




It was a bank holiday weekend, and we really wanted to have a special day out, as the weather forecast was perfect, and we really needed to get away from our studies. 




To do anything in the city, especially during a holiday weekend, always costs a lot of money, and as we were flat broke,  we decided to look for somewhere to go outside of the city. One of the guys came up with the idea of riding our bikes to a very beautiful park and lake, about 15 km outside of the city. 




We all agreed it would be a great idea, and each chipped in some cash, so we could buy some nice food in the local supermarket, as there is a barbeque area in the park which is free to use.
It turned out to be a really wonderful and special day, and was as cheap as chips, as riding our bikes meant there was no transport cost, and entry to the park was actually free. I think in total we spent about 24 dollars on the food between the three of us, and it really goes to show that it’s still possible to have a really special day out that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

日本のクリスマスについて、ですね。

せっかくクリスマスイブのPodcastなので、クリスマスについて話そうと思います。

みなさんはどんな風に過ごしていますか？
日本では、若い人は友達や好きな人と過ごす人が多いんじゃないかなと思います。結婚している人は家族で過ごす人がほとんどですかね。

若い人はご飯食べに行ったり、イルミネーションを見に行ったりするかもしれないです。僕は去年までずっとコーヒーショップで働いていました。クリスマスはいつも働いていましたので、そこで見てる感じしかわかりません。

1つ、日本のおもしろいクリスマスの習慣？を紹介します。
知っている人もたくさんいると思いますが、日本では、クリスマスには、ケンタッキーのフライドチキンを食べる人が多いです。

調べてみました。

ケンタッキーのクリスマスキャンペーンは1974年からスタートしました。テレビCMで「クリスマスにはケンタッキー」というメッセージを流しました。そこから、クリスマスには鶏肉を食べるという習慣が広まり、ケーキとプレゼントしかなかったクリスマスに新たな文化を定着させたそうです。

テレビがとても大きな影響力を持っていたと共に、広告のおもしろさと怖さの両方を感じます。

ということで、今の日本では、わりと無意識に、クリスマスにはケンタッキー！というイメージがあります。

かくいう僕も、コーヒーショップで働いていた時は、クリスマスイブに、ケンタッキーのフライドチキンをたくさん買って、お店で働いてくれているみんなにあげていました。
