Description
Numbers and time are where learners know the rule and still freeze, so this class is a workout, not an explanation. Every pause is your turn to speak. You drill one to twenty and hear why eleven is 'ten-one', the tens built on പത്, then hundreds, thousands, lakh and crore, which you must switch to because nobody in Kerala says million. Then prices and change, the clock (രണ്ടര for half past two, രണ്ടേ പതിനഞ്ച് for 2:15), the times of day, single words for the day after tomorrow and the day before yesterday, and the weekday names, each of which is a planet. Words and phrases in this class: പതിനൊന്ന് (pathinonnu) – eleven ഇരുപത് (irupathu) – twenty തൊണ്ണൂറ് (thonnooru) – ninety നൂറ്റിയമ്പത് (noottiyambathu) – one hundred and fifty ഒരു ലക്ഷം (oru laksham) – one lakh (100,000) ഒരു കോടി (oru kodi) – one crore (ten million) ചില്ലറയുണ്ടോ? (chillarayundo?) – do you have change? സമയം എത്രയായി? (samayam ethrayaayi?) – what time is it? രണ്ടര (randara) – half past two രാവിലെ ഏഴ് മണിക്ക് (raavile ezhu manikku) – at seven in the morning മറ്റന്നാൾ (mattannaal) – the day after tomorrow മിനിഞ്ഞാന്ന് (mininjaannu) – the day before yesterday ഞായറാഴ്ച (njaayaraazhcha) – Sunday In this class: • One to a hundred at speed, and the ten-one pattern • Lakh and crore, said until they are automatic • Prices, change and telling the time • Days, മറ്റന്നാൾ, and weekdays named after planets Quizzes below.
