What comes into my mind is one of ｍeasures against coronavirus.
A lot of see-through acrylic plate partition were used until this May.
Otherwise, they are started to remove since this May 8th in Japan.

みなさんは、透明のアクリル板と聞いたら、何を思い出しますか。
私は、コロナ感染予防のパーテーションを思い出します。
２０２０年に始まったコロナ。　感染すると重症化したり、ひどければ命を落とすこともあるコロナ。　そのため、さまざまな感染予防対策が取られました。
それが、今年、２０２３年の５月に　季節性インフルエンザなどと同じ扱いになりました。　
コロナの感染予防対策には、予防接種、マスク、手洗いうがいの励行などがありましたが、「アクリル板のパーテーション」の使用もありました。これは、飛沫防止対策として使われていました。　実は、今も病院や役所の受付、スーパーのレジなど不特定多数の人が対面する場所には　設置されています。　一番コロナが流行っていたころから、今年の５月までは、会社のオフィスやレストランなどでも使われていました。　
日本の多くの会社では、社員の机は　部署ごとに　ぴったり引っ付けて並べてあります。
向かい合わせに置かれた机が　横にいくつか並びます。　その机と机の間に余分なスペースはありません。　咳やくしゃみ、あるいは　話すときに飛ぶ唾液などが　飛び散らないようにする必要がありました。そこで、登場したのが　透明のアクリル板のパーテーションでした。　透明なので　顔は見えますが、アクリル板１枚が間に入るだけで、声は届きにくくなりました。　加えて、みんなマスクをしているので、口元が見えませんし、表情も読みにくくなっていました。　食堂やレストランにも、このアクリル板のパーテーションが置かれていました。　食事のときは、マスクをはずすので、「黙食（もくしょく）」が奨励されました。「黙食」とは、だまって食事をすることです。アクリル板があってもです。
それが、今年５月　とうとう　感染対策を緩めることになり、アクリル板が取り除かれ始めました。　透明とはいえ、空間が遮られることで圧迫感がありましたが、取り除かれると　同じスペースでも広く感じました。　不要になったアクリル板をどうするかという問題が起こりました。　それで、この行き場のなくなったアクリル板をただ捨ててしまうのはもったいないということで、リサイクルが進められています。例えば、駅の案内板のカバーや、パスケースなどです。　
パーテーションに使われたアクリル板が　いろいろなものに変身して　私たちの身近なところで　使われているんですね。　もう二度と、コロナ予防のために使われる日が来ないことを祈りたいと思います。
