We Are Not Doctors... But Here’s How to Talk HEALTH in Chinese!

日本人は何個ぐらい漢字を覚えているんですか？と聞かれることがあります。
人によって差はあると思いますが、日本人は平均3000字ぐらい読めるそうです。
日本人のほとんどが書ける漢字より読める漢字の方がかなり多いと思います。
特に大人になると漢字を手で書くことが少ないので、漢字が書けなくなります。
私も漢字がどんどん書けなくなっていることを感じています。
本やニュースを読んでいると読めない漢字もあります。
そういう時は話の流れで意味を推測したり、その漢字を辞書で調べます。

生徒さんから「漢字はどうやって覚えたらいいですか」とよく聞かれます。私はやはり書いて覚えることが一番だと思います。なぜ書くことが大事かというと、書くとその漢字の形がよくわかるからです。例えば、「体」と「休む」の漢字はとてもよく似ています。書かなくても、話の流れで、「体」と読むのか「休む」と読むのかがわかるかもしれません。でも書いてみると、その二つの漢字の違いがよく分かり、話の流れが分からなくても何について書いているのかが分かるようになります。

そして漢字について一番大事なことは正確に読めることだと思います。本を読んだり、ニュースを読んでいる時は読み方を間違えていても、問題ありません。でも、その間違えた読み方を使って話すと、相手はあなたが言いたいことを理解できません。せっかく覚えた単語が、伝わらないのは悲しいですよね。だから、正確な読み方を覚えるのはとても大切です。

最後に「漢字は書けた方がいいですか」と聞かれます。正直、日本で生活をしていて、漢字を書く機会はほとんどありません。もし、書かなければいけないときは、分からない漢字をスマホで調べて書けばいいと思います。でも、スマホで調べるときに、間違えた読み方を入力すると、スマホはあなたが知りたい漢字を教えてくれません。なので、正しい読み方を覚えることはとても大事だと思います。

みなさんは漢字が得意ですか？
漢字を覚えるのは難しいですが、漢字が読めると日本語でマンガや本を読めるようになり、日本語を勉強するのがもっと楽しくなると思います。

Victor Hugo - Demain, dès l'aube
 
Our first poem is from the French poet Victor Hugo, one of the best-known French writers. Demain, dès l'aube which means "Tomorrow, at Dawn," is a short and poignant poem about his visit to his daughter’s grave.
The poem was first released in 1856 in Hugo’s collection called Les Contemplations.

Demain, dès l'aube
Demain, dès l’aube, à l’heure où blanchit la campagne,
Je partirai. Vois-tu, je sais que tu m’attends.
J’irai par la forêt, j’irai par la montagne.
Je ne puis demeurer loin de toi plus longtemps.
Je marcherai les yeux fixés sur mes pensées,
Sans rien voir au dehors, sans entendre aucun bruit,
Seul, inconnu, le dos courbé, les mains croisées,
Triste, et le jour pour moi sera comme la nuit.
Je ne regarderai ni l’or du soir qui tombe,

I don't understand why people buy such poor quality items of clothing, wear them a few times and then throw them away. It's terrible for the environment.
I hate the fashion trade. I read somewhere that companies can sell a dress for $5, but they don't make any profit. They're just aiming to attract more consumers to their websites so that they'll spend more money.
My brother's a fashion designer, but I think designer labels are a waste of money. I just shop in high street stores and I only buy casual clothes.
