Il faut faire quelque chose pour mon papa taupe qui creuse tout le temps. Il se perd dans ses galeries! Il ne trouve jamais son chemin. Ce n'est pas rigolo. Alors, comme je suis une petite taupe très intelligente, j'ai eu une bonne idée: j’ai semé des cailloux blancs derrière mon papa qui creusait. Comme ça, nous retrouvons tout de suite le chemin de notre salle à manger souterraine! Pour les taupes, hip! hip! hip! hourra!

Подобно островам, разбросанным по бесконечно разлившейся реке, обтекающей их глубоко прозрачными рукавами ровной синевы, они почти не трогаются с места; далее, к небосклону, они сдвигаются, теснятся, синевы между ними уже не видать; но сами они так же лазурны, как небо: они все насквозь проникнуты светом и теплотой. Цвет небосклона, легкий, бледно-лиловый, не изменяется во весь день и кругом одинаков; нигде не темнеет, не густеет гроза; разве кое-где протянутся сверху вниз голубоватые полосы: то сеется едва заметный дождь. К вечеру эти облака исчезают; последние из них, черноватые и неопределенные, как дым, ложатся розовыми клубами напротив заходящего солнца; на месте, где оно закатилось так же спокойно, как спокойно взошло на небо, алое сиянье стоит недолгое время над потемневшей землей, и, тихо мигая, как бережно несомая свечка, затеплится на нем вечерняя звезда. В такие дни краски все смягчены; светлы, но не ярки; на всем лежит печать какой-то трогательной кротости.

Aisha è nata ad Assilah, in Marocco e vive a Torino nel quartiere di San Paolo. Ogni giorno per andare a lavoro in via Nizza prende la metropolitana. Aisha vive in un appartamento con il fidanzato Matteo, che è originario di Catanzaro, il loro bambino Pierpaolo, il gatto Galileo e il cane Michelangelo. Matteo lavora come programmatore per una famosa ditta di computer americana. Aisha lavora come insegnante di matematica nella scuola superiore. Siccome oggi è sabato, Aisha non lavora e insieme a Matteo e al loro figlio, fanno un giro al mercato di Porta Palazzo e al mercato delle pulci chiamato Balon. Poiché Aisha ha già fatto la spesa, allora a Porta Palazzo non compra niente. Al Balon ogni volta che va, c’è davvero molta gente che arriva per trovare delle occasioni  e in effetti oggi ci sono davvero tanti oggetti incredibili e vintage. Oggi Matteo ha comprato un vecchio telefono e anche una macchina fotografica antica degli anni sessanta. Dopo il loro giro al mercato Aisha e Matteo si fermano a mangiare del pesce fritto in un posto a Porta Palazzo e poi vanno al cinema Massimo a vedere un film. A loro gli piace molto il cinema e hanno deciso che il prossimo anno vogliono andare a vedere la mostra del cinema di Venezia. Ma quest’anno non possono ancora andare perché Aisha deve lavorare molto. Ad Aisha nel tempo libero piace leggere dei libri gialli mentre Matteo preferisce ascoltare musica blues. Matteo capisce il francese ma non lo parla. Aisha invece parla l'arabo el’amazigh, il francese e l’italiano. Tutti e due parlano anche inglese.

Il mercato di Torino

If you see someone sitting alone in a restaurant, you might assume they're waiting for someone, or perhaps they're grabbing a quick lunch on their break.

But more and more people around the world are purposely dining alone.

Japan has a special word for this: ohitorisama, which refers to people confidently doing things alone without worrying about what others think.

A recent survey found that 23% of Japanese people eat out alone, up from 18% in 2018. And in the US, solo dining reservations have risen 29% over the last two years, according to restaurant reservation site OpenTable.

OpenTable CEO Debby Soo thinks remote work is one reason for the increase, with people looking for a break from their home offices.

The increasing popularity in solo dining comes as more people are living alone. In 2019, the Pew Research Center found that 38% of US adults ages 25 to 54 were living without a partner, up from 29% in 1990. In Japan, single households now make up one-third of the total; that’s expected to increase to 40% by 2040, according to government data.

Growing interest in solo travel — particularly among travelers ages 55 and over — is also leading to more meals alone.

But Soo thinks there could be more to it than that.

"I think there's a broader movement of self-love and self-care and really … enjoying your own company," Soo said.

As a result, many restaurants are redoing their seating, changing their menus and adding other special touches to appeal to solo diners.

But some aren't always happy to seat one diner. A Michelin-starred London restaurant caused a stir last year when it started charging solo diners the same price as two customers. The restaurant, which has 34 seats, offers an eight-course menu costing about $280 per person.

Other restaurants say it's worth seating one person because solo diners will often come back and eat there again.
