Il cavallo e l'asino viaggiano insieme sulla strada, quando, ad un tratto, l'asino chiede al cavallo di prendere un po' del suo carico: l'asino si sente molto stanco e teme di poter morire. Il cavallo rifiuta la sua proposta ma ben presto si pentirà di averlo fatto.
