This idiom means vim and vigor, full of life, often used to describe people's fighting spirit and healthy state.

今天给爸爸打电话，爸爸说他不在老家，在另一个大城市。他说他正在去一家医院的路上，想去和那家医院谈谈，去他们的医院工作，做中医师（zhong1 yi1 shi1, TCM doctor）。
我问爸爸，你不想自己开诊所(zhen3suo3, clinic)了吗？虽然诊所很小，可多自由(zi4you2, unrestrained)呀！想开门就开门，想休息就休息。有那么多老病人，都认识几十年了。
爸爸说，疫情(yi4qing2, epidemic situation)以来，很多病,小诊所是不允许(yu3xu3, be allowed)看了，他自己也很担心被传染(chuan2ran3, be contagous)。除了病人变少了以外，还多了很多以前不需要做的事情，比如，有很多会要开，还有卫生局(wei4sheng1ju2, Public Health Bureau)经常来检查(jian3cha2, inspect)。他一个老人，已经没有办法面对很多的变化，更没有办法很快地去完成各种事情。所以现在他就想去大的医院，为医院工作，比较简单。而老病人，还是可以为他们看病的，可以用网络，视频(shi4pin2, video)看病，开药(kai1yao4, to prescribe medicine)，让病人们自己去买药。但有一个问题，他要离开老家去外地工作，如果要见家人和老朋友，就只能在周末了。
真的很难，鱼和熊掌不能兼得(yu2 he2 xiong2zhang3 bu4ke3 jian1de2, lit. the fish and the bear's paw, you can't have both. which means you can't always get everything you want · )。很多时候，两个你都很想要的东西，却告诉你只能选一个，没有办法，只能选一个，因为生活还是要继续。

(A)  „Wenn du das Wort „Wählscheibe“ noch kennst, dann bist du offiziell alt.“ Diesen Spruch kann man auf Twitter lesen. Früher hatte jedes Telefon eine „Wählscheibe“, heutzutage kann ein Kind mit diesem Begriff nichts mehr anfangen: Man muss heute keine Scheibe mehr drehen, wenn man jemanden anrufen will. 

(B)  Bei dem Ausdruck „Wilde Ehe“ ist es ein wenig komplizierter. Die „Wilde Ehe“, war das Zusammenleben ohne verheiratet zu sein. Das war bis zum 20. Jahrhundert die  Ausnahme und es war gesellschaftlich nicht akzeptiert. Das Wort „wild“ mit seinem negativen Beiklang zeigte das sehr deutlich. Heute nennen wir das gleiche Phänomen „LEBENSPARTNERSCHAFT“. Das klingt völlig wertfrei und zeigt, dass diese Art zu leben jetzt als unproblematisch gilt.  – 

(C)  Man könnte übrigens den Twitter-Spruch auch umdrehen und sagen: „Wenn du die Wörter „Intervallfasten“ oder „Flugscham“ kennst, dann bist du SONNENKLAR ein Kind des 21. Jahrhunderts.“

(D)  Zur Erklärung: Intervallfasten ist eine moderne Diätmethode, bei der man nur während 8 Stunden am Tag essen darf. Die RESTLICHEN 16 Stunden muss man fasten. Flugscham ist eine Emotion im Zeitalter der Klima-Erwärmung.  Menschen, die unnötig fliegen, sollen sich schämen, weil sie dem Klima noch mehr schaden.

It's no secret that Hawaii is a favorite destination for Japanese tourists. In 2023, the islands welcomed around 573,000 visitors from Japan — the most from any country.

But did you know there's a connection between Japan and Hawaii that goes beyond travel and into clothing?

Aloha shirts, also known as Hawaiian shirts, have roots in Japanese culture, beginning with Japanese immigrants in Hawaii.

In the late 1800s, Japanese immigrants in Hawaii started importing Japanese clothing as well as rolls of fabric to make clothes with.

In the 1920s, locals in Hawaii saw these fabrics and started using them to make casual dress shirts with Japanese patterns on them. These shirts became popular with tourists to Hawaii.

Soon after, aloha shirts were made in bulk, but instead of using fabric made for Japanese clothing, stores in Hawaii started bringing in printed fabrics made just for aloha shirts.

And by the late 1930s, the designs had changed from Japanese patterns to the Hawaiian inspired patterns we're used to today — images of Mount Fuji and Japanese pine trees were replaced with things like coconut trees, surfers and fish.

But even though today's aloha shirts don't look very Japanese inspired, they still remain popular within Japan.

Yosuke Seki, an aloha shirt aficionado who goes to Hawaii every year, told CNN he wears his shirts daily, and hopes to inspire others to try them.

"Right now, I'm wearing a replica of one of the expensive designs," Seki said, adding that his shirt cost between $130 and $200. The more expensive shirts can cost thousands of dollars, he explained.

And for some fans, aloha shirts are not just clothing — they're collectable items, or even considered art.

Yoshihiro Nakano is the brand director of Sun Surf, a Japanese company that has been making aloha shirts for about 50 years. Many customers don't even wear the aloha shirts they buy, and instead just collect them or frame them, Nakano told CNN.
