Once you know the rules, it will be much easier to remember šŸ’­ šŸ”Ž Take a look at this resource to help you understand the sounds that -ed endings can make and when to use each of them: There areĀ three ways to pronounce the -ed ending in English. The pronunciation is generally determined by the final sound (not letter) of the infinitive. 1ļøāƒ£ For words ending in aĀ /d/ or /t/ sound, the -ed ending will make the /ÉŖd/ sound, which will result in an additional syllable. 2ļøāƒ£ For words ending in aĀ /f/, /k/, /p/, /s/, /ʃ/, or /tʃ/ sound, the -ed ending will make the unvoiced /t/ sound. 3ļøāƒ£ For words ending inĀ all other sounds (including vowels), the -ed ending will make the voiced /d/ sound.
