Hey great job! Here’s a recording of an American accent. We say the u in “rug” a little different than in british english (which is closer to what you’ve said). It’s also same sort of sound you hear at the end of American pronunciations of the word “the.” Just kind of the is dull, drawn out “uhhhhh,” if that makes any sense haha.
