The tense that follows depends on the time reference:
đč Imperfecto (estabas, vivĂas, erasâŠ) â when the fact is true now
đč Pluscuamperfecto (habĂas ido, habĂa salidoâŠ) â when the fact happened before
Example:
â ÂĄQuĂ© sorpresa! No sabĂa que estabas aquĂ.
(You are here now â imperfect)
â ÂżCon LucĂa? Pensaba que se habĂa ido de vacaciones.
(She left before â pluperfect)
Ayer vi a Marta en la oficina. Yo pensaba que __________ de la empresa.
